Remington Roots Inspire Schwab to Support Inclusive Park Expansion

For Brett Schwab, supporting the Town of Remington's Inclusive Park Expansion Project wasn't simply about funding a new playground—it was about investing in the community that shaped his life.
Although Schwab now lives in Indianapolis, where he serves as President of Presidio Group, a real estate investment and property management company with deep ties to the Remington area, his connection to his hometown has never faded. Born and raised in Remington, a graduate of Tri-County High School, and with family still calling the community home, Schwab continues to spend significant time in the area through both family and business.
Recently, Schwab made a significant contribution to the Town's Patronicity crowdfunding campaign, helping unlock additional matching grant dollars for the Inclusive Park Expansion Project.
His investment will help bring to life a new destination playground designed to welcome children of all ages and abilities. The project will expand one of Remington's most treasured community assets by adding accessible play equipment, inclusive features that allow children with varying physical and developmental abilities to play together, improved gathering spaces for families, and enhancements to ensure the park continues serving residents and visitors for generations to come.
"I don't even remember exactly how I first heard about the project," Schwab said. "It might have been through my parents, or it might have been because I saw the big fundraising thermometer around town—which I thought was a really fun way to get the community involved."
Regardless of how he learned about it, Schwab said supporting the project was an easy decision.
"Inclusivity is always important," he said. "When I think about this project, I think about my former club soccer coach, Curt Ross. His son had a disability, and watching the patience, compassion, and leadership Coach Ross demonstrated every single day left a lasting impression on me. If there's something I can do to help make sure children of all abilities have a place where they can play, make friends, and simply enjoy being kids, I'm happy to be part of it."
Schwab knows firsthand how important the Town of Remington Park has been to generations of local families.
Growing up, soccer wasn't one of the primary sports offered through Tri-County Schools. Instead, he played club soccer, spending countless hours practicing, competing, and making lifelong friendships at Remington park.
"I honestly can't tell you how much time I spent there," Schwab said. "Some of my best memories growing up happened at that park. It wasn't just about sports—it was where friendships were built, where families gathered, and where kids simply got to be kids."
Those memories make the Inclusive Park Expansion especially meaningful.
"When I was growing up, soccer players sometimes felt a little different because we didn't have the same opportunities as some of the other sports," he said. "The park gave us a place where we belonged. Now, I love seeing that same idea of belonging being expanded so children and people of every ability can experience that same sense of inclusion."
With Presidio Group, Schwab spends much of his professional life evaluating communities, properties, and opportunities for growth. That perspective has only strengthened his appreciation for his hometown.
"I know the buildings here very well because of the work I do," he said. "But communities aren't defined by their buildings—they're defined by their people, and what the community offers. That's what makes Remington special. This is a place where people genuinely care about one another. If someone sees you're trying to make the community better, they're willing to help you."
Even though his career has taken him elsewhere, Schwab says he'll always feel invested in Remington's future.
"My parents still live here. I still do business here. I'll always consider Remington home," he said. "Projects like this aren't just about building a playground. They're about making sure this community continues to be a place where families want to live, children want to grow up, and people are proud to come back to."
